Shirley Joseph is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She began her career in health care by working as a Registered Nurse in New York City when she was only 23 years old. Since that time, she has logged twenty-seven years of experience in various areas of patient care (certified home health agencies, long-term facilities, labor and delivery, post-partum care, newborn nursery, Nurse Family Partnership home base program, medical care center, pediatric clinic, visiting nurse homecare service, women’s health, school nursing and psychiatry).
In addition to her extensive clinical experience, Shirley also has an outstanding academic background that includes an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Nursing at New York College of Technology in Brooklyn, NY. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from SUNY Downstate University in Brooklyn, NY. She obtained her Master of Science in Midwifery from Stony Brook University in Long Island, NY. Then returned to school for her Post-Masters Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMH-NP) from Saint Joseph University in West Hartford, CT.
Shirley has a unique combination of strong nursing skills and strives to provide the best mental health care as possible. She believes in building a trusting relationship with her clients in order to acquire a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation of every patient by taking the time to listen and understand their particular needs. Her true desire is to enhance her client’s life by assisting them through a positive healing experience, a team effort approach and helping them gain the confidence they need to find the solution to their underlying issues.
Shirley’s combination of clinical education and provide a strong academic foundation for a holistic approach to patient’s day-to-day life. She believes that healing and wholeness are matters of mind, body and spirit.

Our experience allows us to offer effective outpatient and individualized psychological evaluation including medication management follow up visits for a number of mental health disorders in a neutral environment for each individual and family member.
Our focus is to help individuals heal, energize, and become aware of their inner strengths. We achieve this by providing a neutral safe space, listening to your concerns, and customizing a treatment plan.
